Xposed Framework; Your new best friend in Android Modding

Xposed-Framework-for-Android-Guide

If you’re like me who spends hours flashing one rom after the other, finding the “perfect” rom with all your favorite tweaks and features, well look no further for XDA’s recognized developer rovo89 has developed the perfect solution, the Xposed Framework.

With Xposed Framework you can simply just download and install your choice of ready-made mods (modules) to modify any part of the OS or even an app, restart your phone and you’re good to go. It’s simple as that. And you don’t even have to worry hard-bricking your phone, because in the most extreme circumstances (when not reading the instructions) you’ll soft-brick your phone which can be easily fixed.

It not only made the life flashing-junkies like us much simpler but we can also have all our favorite features without any compromise of stability.

Installing the Xposed Framework

First make sure that your device is rooted (duh!) and is running Android 4.0.3 or above. Now let’s get to the actual steps.

  1. Create a backup of your current rom (using a custom recovery)
  2. Head-over to this page and READ the instructions and the FAQs.
  3. Download the framework from here and install it.
  4. Open the app,  go to Framework section and tap the Install/Update button
  5. Reboot your phone
  6. Enjoy

Downloading and Installing Modules

The modules can be installed the same way you install any other APK files. Modules can be downloaded from the Download section in Xposed app, from XDA (here’s very large collection) or some other website.

After installing a module you will receive a notification to activate the specific module, in the notification panel, tap it. Now you just have to reboot your device to for the module to work.

We all know what our next step is; spending rest of the day installing modules one after other picking out our favorite ones. Stay tuned for our top 10 modules for Xposed Framework and happy modding!
