Xbox One Getting Better - Agree ?

Why is the Xbox One Getting Better ?

It has already been argued a lot that “which console is better”, so I am not going to talk over it again. However, recent Xbox One updates don’t make it a bad choice at all. Not only is Microsoft putting in consistent efforts towards improving the gaming experience, the Xbox One is also getting some graphic intense exclusive titles. Graphic intense exclusive titles have remained unique to the Playstation 4 before hand (killzone, upcoming uncharted 4, infamous second son etc), though PS4 still holds the upper edge here, the Xbox One shall soon get greater focus for exclusive titles.

10% Power Boost

Microsoft ditching the kinect’s power is one of the wise moves made by Microsoft. The previously available GPU overhead for the Kinect, is now made available to the developers. That is achieved primarily by the new developer kit, nothing that a gamer needs to be concerned about.

This extra GPU power would allow the developers to produce better looking titles for the Xbox One. Though not a huge contributing factor but with more at hand, there is a chance of Xbox One getting better exclusive titles.

Xbox One getting better GPU power also helps its case a little with the graphically intense Next-Gen titles, as many would not stop arguing about the superior hardware of the PS4 over the Xbox One.

A quote from Eurogamer:

“Yes, the additional resources allow access to up to 10 percent additional GPU performance. We’re committed to giving developers new tools and flexibility to make their Xbox One games even better by giving them the option to use the GPU reserve in whatever way is best for them and their games.”

DirectX 12

Many of you might have already read about the Xbox One getting DirectX 12. It is uncertain as to when it would be released for the Xbox One, but DirectX 12 should give another performance boost to the Xbox One. Xbox One getting better CPU utilization by spreading the processes along multiple cores will help improve gaming performance. Effective utilization can attract greater developer support in coming future.

Exclusive Titles

When it comes to multi-platform games, they tend to look similar on each console. That is because developing for multiple consoles, the producers would like to keep things at an optimum level. The main difference is hence seen on exclusive titles. The whole focus of a developer is to gain his market out of one console, hence he would want it to look at its very best for the selected console.

Though Xbox One lacks a superior hardware when compared to the PS4, better resource utilization would help its case for exclusive titles. That is because developers would now be able to get the most out of what is available to them.

The upcoming release of some exclusives to the Xbox One show stunning results. This is happening without DirectX 12 right now. Forza Horizon 2, for example, will be running at full 1080p and will be locked in at 30 fps.

Though I am a PC gamer, I had always preferred the PS4 over the Xbox One. Recent changes, however, have indeed impressed me. As competition between consoles increases, every console gamer starts to benefit. When Xbox One announced some free games, PS3 users were given Uncharted 3 for free. Though I would never be buying a console, but yes the Xbox One getting better is certainly something good for the gaming community.
