No Need to Root OnePlus One
There’s no need to root OnePlus One
I personally don’t feel it necessary to root OnePlus One at this time. The reason I rooted my Nexus 5 was just to get cyanogen mod and the screen capturing feature. The OnePlus One comes preloaded with Cyanogen mod and a couple more advance customization options. So, why root?
There are a bunch of apps on the Google Play Store that let you record your Smartphone screen. But, all these apps work if your phone is rooted has SuperUser permission. However, on the OnePlus One a Screencast app comes preloaded. Thanks to the 4.4.4 Android version of the Cyanogen mod. One of the top reasons why I had to root my Nexus 5 was just to get the screen casting apps working. But, on the OnePlus Plus you can do it without taking the plunge to root the phone.
More Settings/ Customization Options
OnePlus One comes with additional features and options in the settings, which otherwise are not usually present on a non-rooted android device. Options like Status Bar, Lock Screen, Themes, Notification drawer, Gestures and Buttons are not usually present on Stock Android. But, with Cyanogen mod on the Plus these personalization options are available to the user with even get rooting privileges. I personally use the ‘double tap to wake’ gesture and the status bar brightness slider a lot on this phone. This type of functionality was not available on my unrooted Nexus 5. This makes me think “Why root OnePlus One?”.
Thanks to Cyanogen Mod
Cyanogen Mod is one of the best Custom Roms available for Android phones and tablets. The team behind Cyanogen is working hard to make a better user experience. When a new version of Android comes, the cyanogen mod team starts working on the cyanogen version of that new Android. Their goal is to make a better rom out of that stock version, which usually includes extra features and advance customization options. Also, Cyanogen has confirmed that they would release the Android 5.0 Lolipop soon for the OnePlus One. Thank You Cynaogen, we really appreciate that! Check them out at: www.cyanogenmod.org
It is true that rooting an Android Device, especially a Nexus phone is not that hard. And once you are rooted you can install any Custom Rom on it. Rooting the OnePlus One would definitely provide more options likes installing root only apps, etc. But, right now, I don’t think there’s really a need for it. And, one should keep in mind that rooting a device and unlocking the boot-loader voids the warranty. And, who wants to deal with all of that? So, these were some of the reasons why I think there’s no need to root OnePlus One smartphone.
