Amazon Fire Phone - The mysterious 3D phone unveils
Amazon Fire Phone
Amazon has finally revealed the long rumored 3d smartphone today in its Seattle event, called the âAmazon Fire Phoneâ. Unlike, other smartphones, Amazon Fire has been a mysterious device because of the video that Amazon posted before releasing it. The video only showed people holding the phone without actually showing the phone itself. The reactions of the people to the phone kind of made a mysterious impression about this smartphone. One person in the video stated âIt moved with meâ while looking at the phone’s display. Now, this statement was something that made a lot of suspense among the public. Finally, no more waiting because the phone has been revealed and the pre-orders have already been started on amazon.com.
I must say that Amazon Fire a pretty solid phone with a 2.2 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The only thing that didnât impress me is the screen size and the resolution, as it has a much smaller 4.7 inch display of 1280 x 720 resolutions at 315 ppi. The operating system is obviously the new Fire OS 3.5.0 which is based on Android. The phone comes in two storage options; 32 GB or 64 GB. Itâs packed with a 2400 mAh battery which is not that bad. With a 13 MP rear facing camera and a 2.1 MP front facing camera the Amazon Fire Phone is a beast in taking quality pictures. Plus, it captures fine quality videos at 1080p HD at 30 fps with both front and rear camera sensors. The thing that makes Amazon Fire phone stand out among other flagship devices is the Dynamic Perspective sensor that gives the user a 3d feel without wearing any glasses (Weâll talking about this in detail later on). Other common features included in the Amazon Fire phone are Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC technology, GPS, etc.
Whatâs Unique about the Fire?
Currently, Amazon Fire Phone is the only smartphone with the following features:
This is what people call the 3D experience. Actually, it is a custom designed sensor system that responds to how you hold, view and move your phone. The phone has 4 dynamic perspective sensors on each corner which tracks the position of your face to let the phone know where you are actually looking. The phone then responds based on that information giving you that 3D feel. This why in the Amazon video one of the person says that âIt moves with meâ. You have to see this feature in person to know how awesome it is.
Dynamic Perspective also gives you some other awesomely unique features such as one-handed shortcuts like accessing the notification panel by just swiveling the phone. Also, the one-handed reading feature lets you scroll without ever having to touch the phone. Pretty Cool!
There is a firefly button on the top left side of the phone. By pressing the button you can instantly identify tons of things including Movies, music, books, household items, etc. It then asks you what you want to do with it. Firefly is basically a virtual search engine that interacts with reality. For example, if you firefly a book and scan it, it will give you all the details about the book, where to buy it, etc.
Unlike, Shazam and other music searching apps, firefly lets you easily search any  music playing by just holding the firefly button itâs that easy. Firefly also identifies printed text on posters, magazines, and business cardsâmake calls, save new contacts, send emails, and visit websites without typing long addresses.
Amazonâs award-winning customer service is on your phone now. It is not like those long and boring customer services where itâs hard to explain and understand the guidelines. The Mayday features allow you to quickly live chat with an Amazon expert just by hitting the Mayday button. If you are have trouble on how to use a certain feature of the phone, just hit that mayday button and the Amazon expert will help you live by drawing on your screen, walking you through how to do something yourself, or doing it for youâwhatever works best. It basically works like team viewer where someone can help you by controlling your PC and showing you how to do a certain task.
– Â Â The Amazon Fire phone comes with a USB charging cable and power adapter and plus a Premium pair of headphones with remote and mic.
– Â Â Free one year Amazon Prime membership (which is worth $99).
Amazon has started its pre-orders todays and is selling the 32 GB version for $199 on Contract with AT&T and the 64GB version for $299 on Contract. You can also buy it off Contract (Unlocked) for $649 and $749 for the 32 GB and 64 GB models, respectively.
I would say the price tag is fine if compared with other phones like Galaxy S5, HTC M8 and the iPhone. It might be a tough compete with other flagship devices but the features that make Amazon Fire unique might convince user to buy and try this phone. I would personally love to try this phone out because it stands out from the rest.
